Work Package 7 consists of the development of country-level stakeholder platforms with key role-players in Ethiopia and Tanzania. This work is being carried out by in-country partners and led by IDS with support from Irish-based team members.
The purpose of these platforms is to promote knowledge and debate around agriculture-nutrition linkages, to better inform the research team and key stakeholders of recent developments and processes and to create a conducive environment for the conduct of the AgriDiet research and for the policy proposals that emerge.
Key strategies for this work area include the following:
- Mapping of relevant stakeholders and other stakeholder networks within each country
- Hosting of stakeholder workshops to encourage the discussion of agriculture-nutrition linkages and monitor current activities and policymaking
- Exploring behaviours and preferences around information searching and sharing and identifying research not easily available or unpublished
- Feedback of emerging findings from the AgriDiet research
Through encouraging information sharing, discussion and learning, the platforms will help to increase the stakeholder’s access to knowledge and also stimulate the desire, capacity and demand to use and apply this knowledge.
The first stakeholder workshops were held on 28 February, 2013 in Addis Ababa and on 5 March, 2013 in Dar Es Salaam. A report on the first stakeholder workshops can be found below, whilst a summary and photos from the events can be found in our News section.
